Our eagerness to spread our wings was made bittersweet by the realization that we would soon be leaving the place we have called home for the last couple years of our lives.

Dora Camacho Van de Montel

Dora Camacho Van de Montel '73 retired from Long Beach Memorial Hospital in California after 42 years. She worked in the cancer wing for about 12 years and then was appointed administrator. She spent 40 years contributing positively to the medical community and made a difference in the lives of many. Dora is now enjoying her retirement.

Notre Dame has given me very valuable lessons. Ones that extend beyond the classroom. I was a shy kid and I still am; however, the lessons taught here have helped me to strive to reach out to others. And as a result I made friends with those who I now and will continue to consider my family. Because the memories we made together are ones that I hold close to my heart.
